Elbert Hubbard Working Hands and Body Salt Bar ( 5.5 oz )
It may sound counter intuitive but Himalayan salt is excellent for dry and irritated skin. Smokey cade oil is tangled with the scent of fresh coconut and sharp lime in this beautiful long lasting salt bar. If this bar were a drink it would be a mezcal-rita. We use powdered Himalayan salt to gently exfoliate while french red clay and rare ucuuba butter target problematic skin. Himalayan salt is also an amazing detoxifier and is great as an underarm detox before applying our deodorant. Ucuuba butter is naturally anti inflammatory and can be used to moisturize and replenish dry or mature skin. This body bar is unique because it creates big fluffy lather unlike most salt bars. Quench dry and irritated winter skin with this healing bar. Offering whole and half sizes ( 5.5oz / 2.5oz )
Who is Elbert Hubbard you say? Before earning national acclaim as one of the more flamboyant founders of the American Arts & Crafts Movement, Elbert Hubbard made his fortune selling soap for the Larkin Company. A practical philosopher, he established the Roycroft Campus in East Aurora, NY where the furniture and décor was designed according to his philosophy that things of beauty should be of use and things of use should be beautiful (and affordable to the average household). His celebrated life came to an untimely end. He died aboard the Lusitania arm in arm with his wife, the feminist crusader, Alice Moore Hubbard. Elbert Hubbard is the grandfather of a dear friend of ours and has served as the inspiration behind this hardworking bar of soap that is as earthy and elegant as the man himself.

More about our ingredients:
Himalayan Salt: Himalayan salt has been long prized for its medicinal and detoxifying benefits and is thought to be one of the purest salts on earth. The unique pink hue comes from elements iron, calcium, magnesium and potassium. Himalayan salt crystals contain minerals that are small enough for our skin to absorb, providing amazing therapeutic benefits. Some of these include:
Chromium: fights acne and reduces skin infections
Zinc: aids with healing and helps prevent scarring. It helps prevent acne by regulating the activity of oil glands
Sulfur: keeps skin clear and smooth helps to diminish dry patches
Hexane Free Olive Oil: Most soap makers use pommace grade olive oil. This is what is left after the oil has been pressed numerous times. The left over oil, leaves and pits are chemically treated with Hexane to extract the remaining olive oil. Hexane is a solvent made from crude oil. While traces left in the olive oil are unlikely to cause damage, Hexane itself is problematic. Hexane is federally classified as a hazardous air pollutant and chronic exposure to workers in factories that use Hexane to extract oil is dangerous. Symptoms include severe lung irritation, pulmonary edema, depression, numbness of limbs and more. District Batch does not use any oils or ingredients that are extracted using Hexane.
